This excellent recording puts you right in the middle of Maxwell’s for a fun show. An A- since the sound is a bit thin, but you don’t exactly expect pounding drums and booming bass at a Jonathan Richman show anyway!

The show has lots of conversation and interaction with the audience, all of which is nicely captured here. Jonathan frequently sings off-mic, and his vocals are still clear even when he does so. The crowd is enthusiastic and involved, yet they never intrude and provide complete silence during the quiet songs.
