Notes

This CD comes with the book Voodoo Child: The Illustrated Legend of Jimi Hendrix by Martin I. Green and Bill Sienkiewicz. The material can be found on the bootleg Acoustic Jams, but on this release it's in much better quality - and stereo!

The Collectors' Edition of these recordings called Healing Power is available in better quality than either of the aforementioned.

Another review from Nine To The Universe :
One of maybe 2 or 3 things that Alan Douglas had his hand in that wasn't totally botched, Jimi By Himself is a companion CD to a book called "Voodoo Child: The Illustrated Legend Of Jimi Hendrix". This is a hardcover book put out by Penguin Books in 1995, featuring the story of Jimi as told in a comic/artwork format. A really nice item, it would be a great gift for that Hendrix fan in all of us. The CD included with the book, features Jimi practicing and sketching out song ideas on an acoustic/unplugged electric guitar. It's very interesting to see how songs like 1983 started out, and how they evolved before their final forms. And the book artwork is great as well, all in color, and very stylish. Have to hand it to the people involved with this one, they did things right!
