Notes

Back Pages Unreleased I heard a rumor about the bootleg series volumes 1-3 saying they were first tought as a four cds set I think this cd could gather the tracks that were dropped when the bootleg series became a 3 cds set... Problem is bootleg series were released in 1991 and last track presented here was recorded in 1994 I assume tracks are presented here (as on bootleg series) in chronological order (of performance date)

THE TRACKS:
- In The Evening When The Sun Goes Down 19?? Song written by pianis Leroy Carr and erformed among others by Leadbelly (and many other artists who recorded for Moses Asch's records company)
- FAREWELL 1962 Recorded in the basement of Gerde's Folk City, NY, 1962 Back-up singer is Happy Traum
- BLOWIN' IN THE WIND 1962 Finjan club, Toronto, Canada - July 2, 1962
- NEW ORLEANS RAG 1963 New York Town Hall - April 12, 1963
- (I HEARD THAT) LONESOME WHISTLE 1962 Freewheelin' Outtake (cf Dignity boot)
- IT'S ALRIGHT MA, (I'M ONLY BLEEDING) 196? I believe it's a live performance, but couldn't figure out where and when yet
- LIKE A ROLLING STONE 196? It sounds a lot like the hollywood bowl version (in 65), it's rock alright, but not as loud as it would be during the england tour in '66 when, by the way, he yelled 'play fuc....ing loud' to the band. In this version, dylan still uses the harmonica between the verses (i don't think he did in 66)
- VISIONS OF JOHANNA 196? I read that there had been some 1965 sessions to record Blonde on Blonde in NY (with Robbie Robertson) that didn't sound right to DylanAnd the album was eventually recorded in a few days in Nashville. I believe this is a take from one of those ny sessions in 65...
- JUST LIKE TOM THUMB's BLUES 196? I really think the tracks are in chronological order, so I think this can't be a take from the highway 61 revisited session (as it was before the blonde on blonde sessions) I don't know where this track comes from...it may be a track with an electric overdub (the sound is very different that the version on the album)
- I'M NOT THERE 1956 No doubt, here ; 1967, down in the basement of Big Pink with the Band...(can be found on the genuine basement tapes too)
- SIGN ON THE WINDOW 1970 Probably an alternate take from the New Morning recordings ; without the backup singers
- MOST LIKELY YOU GO YOUR WAY (AND I'LL GO MINE) 197? can't be a studio alternate take (because of my chronological order hypothese) don't know where and when it was yet...
- SHE BELONGS TO ME 197? Live recording but i don't know where...
- ALL ALONG THE WATCHTOWER 197? Live again, couldn't say where nor when
- SIMPLE TWIST OF FATE 19?? Haven't got a clue
- BLIND WILLIE MCTELL 1983 As far as i know, this is an infidel outtake, an electrical version but he laughs in the beginning and blows it a little
- DESOLATION ROW 1994 I believe this is an outtake from the mtv unplugged show (the first take)
This CD gathers recordings from 1961 to 1994, and the bootleg series were released in 1991 (according to bob's official website) ; I really don't know if this could be a volume 4 to be released later...
