The Proletariat is a small club, the main room is about 40'x30'. I arrived about 40 minutes before the show and spotted Johnston standing to the left of the stage. DJ was chain smoking and shaking terribly. The room filled up quickly and I picked a spot right in front of the soundman, about 15' back and to the left. Johnston took the stage with electric guitar right at 10PM, along with Jason (guitar) and eventaully Bridget (drums), who was a couple of minutes late. DJ also had a viola and cello player with him, they essentially took the place of a bass guitar and added an ominous or chugging tone to most of the songs. DJ was active throughout the set, really belting out the lyrics, banging his guitar, and gulping water between songs.

The sound was not good. The room was really packed and noisy, some people even having loud converstations near the stage.
