Notes

After a five year hiatus, during which he made a children's album, Himmelman returns with an edgier sound, in no small part owed to finding a new set of players to back him. Though "Eyeball" is rather shocking in its newness — Nine Inch Nails (!) drummer Chris Vrenna was called in — it may in fact earn him some new fans. Yet, it's the more traditional sounding songs like the solo acoustic "Seven Circles" or the lovely, melodious showpiece, "Solitude," in which the form doesn't overtake the rich, adult-condition content, that are way more heartfelt and direct than those of the average singer/songwriter, and are Himmelman's strong suit.
