Notes

The band formed in 1968 and this was their first release from 1969 - originally on CBS. The band later shortened their name to Andwella and continued to release a further two albums.

Love And Poetry is a highly-rated psychedelic album, which featured guest artist Bob Downes playing sax, flute etc. All the songs were written by Dave Lewis. It is an eclectic affair that touches upon a number of approaches-heavy progressive rock-tinged psychedelia with keyboards, fruity pop-psych with strings and fairytale-type lyrics, folk- and blues-informed material bridging psych and prog-common to British rock of the period.

The highlights are the opening track, The Days Grew Longer For Love, which like most tracks is slow and melodic but with killer guitar leads; the heavier psychedelic number Sunday and Cocaine and Shades Of Grey, two tracks which veer towards progressive rock with plenty of organ and jazzy guitar. A psychedelic folk implosion with lyrics that reach out to be heard.

Great soaring guitar work, melodic vocals, orchestration, backwards guitar, bells and bamboo flutes. You can almost smell the incense burning in the studio when this was recorded. Superb stuff!!
