Rank Stranger's original notes regarding this release:

Thanks to MrsHop, who sent me a cd-r copy of the bootleg; he paid for the boot, nevertheless shares it with us for free. Hats off to Mrs Hop!
I created wave files with Nero7, then flac files with Flac Frontend - level7

Mrs.Hop's Original notes regarding this release:

Hi guys. Yes- I have it, but I'm in the unfortunate position of being clueless when it comes to uploading anything. So, all I can do is give you my opinion:
I actually bought this 'For Fans Only' release on the strength of the review posted on 'HotWacks', which said it was the best release of this show so far (& in stereo of course). Prior to this, I think the best version was definitely on disc 1 of VGP-261 (also called 'Roll Over Beethoven' just to confuse matters :-)). Listening to both 'back-to-back' the difference isn't initially all that noticable & the VGP release seems to have more bass.
But, the 'FFO' release IS in stereo & it becomes much more noticable on tracks like 'Love In Vain', where the seperation is great.
To cut a long story short, I think VGP probably released this tape in mono to get rid of hiss (there is a little on the new release, but not much), whereas the 'FFO' release probably just released a low generation tape 'as is'.
It IS very good though. Hope that helps a little.

My personal notes:

As I've mentioned before, I don't that much about Stones bootlegs.

I do love the band, and I do collect them, but not to the extent and detail that I do with Zeppelin recordings, so I'm no authority on what's a really good sounding recording and performance from the band, but I personally found this performance and recording to be a good one.

The popular opinion here seems to be that the Vinyl Gang version is supposedly superior to this version used for this project, I couldn't be the judge of that since I've never heard that version, but I think this version is quite good, it just needs a little bit of polishing up to show how good it is.

The show starts out kind rough, but soons settles in and finds it's groove once the band gets into "Roll Over Beethoven".

What we've done to make this project:

- We've tried to balance the instruments as much as possible, originally the guitar was the most dominant instrument in the mix, drowning out bass and drum fills, so we've tried to add what was missing and balance it with the guitar.

- we've brought the volume down to a more reasonable level, originally it was running a little hot, we just hope it's loud enough now for everyone here.

- We've tried to bring out as much of the venues acoustics as possible, and also things that are buried in the raw recording (cheers, claps, comments, etc).

In regards to the title:

The title comes from a line from one of John F.Kennedy's most infamous speeches addressing the West German's.

I've been wanting to use this reference for a title for a project for sometime now, I've just been waiting and looking for the right project to apply it to.

Hope everyone here will enjoy this.

Cheers!
