This is a mono recording that was processed as two channel stereo. I chose to leave the levels on the Saffire in the same position for all three sides and as a result some of the recording is relatively quiet. In my opinion the transfer has come out well and the sound is clear and has a nice top end. On the downside, the tapes also have some static and various other noises, and some of the content between songs has been edited out.
My thanks to Bert13 for his speed correction advice. Stratcat58’s tapes run slightly fast, with Embryo on side C running faster than the rest. A correction of -1.3% was applied to sides A & B and -1.8% to C. We can tell from the chatter between songs that the principal taper was called Michael.
Described by Melody Maker at the time as one of their most spectacular sets ever, this concert featured fireworks, coloured smoke rising from the lake opposite the stage, a 60 foot inflatable octopus that rose out of the water and a storm.
