Nazz – Nazz
Original 1968 US pressing (SGC Records SD 5001)
This LP was pretty beat-up...I think it came out really nice, considering the condition. I don't think anyone will be disappointed. It gave me the chance to try out my upgraded "beat-up record ripping" rig. My other rig with the Gemini TT had a buzz I could never quite get rid of, hence the upgrade to the Technics/AT, etc. It's a nice low-budget solution for ripping older albums and singles that are not in the best of condition. I'm using a cart with conical stylus for these older albums, but the Technics can easily be upgraded to a cart with elliptical stylus for sound that will rival many higher end turntables. It's a really decent table with a cartridge upgrade (from the one that came with it) for anyone that wants great sound for around $200. Believe me, you could do a lot worse with some of the junk being sold now days. My Kenwood is in dire need of maintenance, so I'm going to be doing oldies for a while, including re-rips of most of my old "buzzy" Gemini rips...I'll have Strawberry Alarm Clock "Incense and Peppermints" up in a few days for those interested in a buzz-free rip...
