Eric Burdon Band - Live @ The Rolling Stone, Milan 30.09 - 1982.
This seems to be an audience recording of the second show the (at the time) current Eric Burdon Band gave at the Rolling Stone in Milan, Italy in late September 1982. They played both on the 29th. and 30th. and this is the latter show. I didn't know that both nights were recorded until I came across this vinyl bootleg in a 2nd. hand shop some years back. The first night has circulated on tape (I sadly don't have it), but the second night was transferred onto vinyl. I think that's kinda cool!
The cover is a B&W rip-off from a 1982 release, and is simply called "Eric Burdon Band". The back of the cover lists the tracks, but has some horrible mis-spellings. I'll present them below. The back of the cover says it's printed in Canada and released by Studios City Records and "Marketed E Distributed by Pinnacle, 1 New York Way", but I seriously doubt the credibility of that. Also, Dionisio Castello (the biggest expert on Eric Burdon Bootlegs pre 1991), dismisses this as a bootleg. The labels of the records are plain and the sides of the records are scribbled down by hand with a pen.

About the gig........
Like I said further up, this is an audience recording, and the quality isn't all that great. But this show goes into a quite long line of shows, documenting the 1982 tour of the Eric Burdon Band. Several shows are available from the States in the spring of 1982, and several more from the European/German tour in the summer/fall. The highlight of these must be the performance from August 28th. when they played at the first Rockpalast Open Air Festival at Loreley. This performance is documented in excellent quality, both video and audio.
The songs performed stayed pretty much the same throughout 1982, but there's definetely a development towards longer, more jammy renditions of the songs towards the end of the year. Also, the song Tango snuck into the set sometime during the summer. The performance here of House Of The Rising Sun clocks in at 14.30 minutes!
About the sounds'n'stuff........
This is transferred from vinyl, and thus it has some hissing and cracks, although I did my absolute best to remove any dust from the surface of the records. I hooked up a stereo line from my Abrahamsen V2.0 amplifier into my Zoom H4 stereo recorder, and recorded each side in lossless 44.100/16 bit wave. The files were boosted a bit in volume and split with Cubase SX3, and the convertion to flac level 8 was done with Trader's Little Helper.
Enjoy,
M.
