Notes

Soundboard => Sony D8 master dat > cdr

The first transfer directly from the master. This was Wilco's first hometown show after the breakthrough success of "Summerteeth" and took place early in the tour .... to this day, this is my favorite Wilco show, and still one of the best shows I've ever seen, by any band. Everyone in the band was fired up to play the new material to a hometown crowd; my most vivid memory was Jay Bennett trolling the stage like a mad scientist switching (seemingly at random) between keyboard and guitar. He stole the show, but everyone was "on" this night. Great setlist heavy on the material from their current two albums (the other being "Mermaid Ave. Vol. I"), but the scattered songs from the first two albums caught fire as well.

Sound quality is excellent; even though it's a raw soundboard the balance is pretty good. Jay's guitar runs a little hot in the mix and vocals are lower than one would like, but overall it's very enjoyable. The levels get hot later in the show, so for maximum listening enjoyment you may want to bring down the levels for the last half of the show.
