::: Excellent mono soundboard from pre-broadcast video track. Another folkrock diamond for your crown. Samples included for "Doubting Thomases".
::: I reckon the "Two Brewers" is the same one in Clapham that is now a famed gay bar.
::: The set was preceded by "Pentangling" & "Hunting Song" followed "Light Flight". Sad but true, but six is better than none!
::: Thanks to the MODS for help regarding possible acceptable lineage issues.

Recording Information ::: mono soundboard line feed -> pre-broadcast Granada TV master video tape -> 2 generations of hi-fi VHS -> DAT 48-kHz (noted low levels).

Playback 2009-10-28 ::: 48-kHz DAT from 2nd generation audio tape as noted above (Tascam? pro portable DAT machine) -> Tascam CD-RW900SL pro CD recorder -> CD-RW -> computer, EAC secure -> wavs -> Audacity (fades, dropouts, glitches, volume adjustments, speed adjustment, no EQ) -> CD Wave (track splits) -> Trader's Little Helper -> yer ears. (Limited volume amplification done from the very low level recording as some people think it produces unwanted artifacts - make it louder in a studio program or just turn up the stereo a bit). First uploaded 2011-12-18

Line-up ::: Bert Jansch - acoustic guitar, banjo, vocals // John Renbourn - acoustic & electric guitars, sitar, vocals // Jacqui McShee - vocals // Danny Thompson - stand-up bass // Terry Cox - drums, percussion

Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & I'll take the offending trax offline.

Cool Sonics 065 ::: Thanks to the original taper & traders! ::: Corrections welcome ::: Another one for Bert. One of THE finer musical items in the old library. Some incredible versions of songs. If this version of "House Carpenter" doesn't make yer fingernails grow a little faster, yer body chemistry needs examinin'. It's one of more glorious examples of the Britfolk genre ever recorded. Every instrument & voice baked to audio perfection. Danny is riveting & Jacqui's voice near the end, as she goes accapella for a few seconds, is truly wonderful. You can take this one to yer desert island. I must say, the more I use Audacity, the better I get & the more amazed I am at the technology. Dropouts gone forever, small volume fluctuations repaired and no more discernable - incredible. Of course the more you fix, the more you notice the few places you missed afterwards... but there are only a couple of blemishes left. One great thing you get here is what I noticed was missing from the first CD reissue of "Basket Of Light", and improved on the later reissues, but never totally the same as the original album, and that is - Danny Thompson rules the roost. He is very well mixed here & his playing drives the music. Hands down one of the finest recorded acoustic bass players the planet has seen so far. So put on yer listening cap, take the magic pill & do the meditation.

More recordings on the way now that I am able to make up for years of slow netspeed. Kudos to Zongo for life support & Lochner for mikes & much more. A bow to Fast Freddie for runnin' Video Dick's Record Emporium with the bathroom office full of tape decks. Thanks to Hanwaker (few among us can keep his pace) for over 30 years of trading & friendship. Mountains of gratitude to Davmar, D.White, Sanchez, Elliot, The Florida Kid, Kloiber, Zingg, JTW, Bershaw, Boston Gold, Weeks, Dixon, Moore, Gough & SO many more for all that collecting & sharing... Royal thanks to The Man In The Palace, Doc Tinker, Brinkhoffs, Barely Eatin', Reel Master Gaule, Parrish & all the traders who housed me thru my music acquisition & travel years. Hats off to Brother Kent, Uncle Jake, Little Queenie (& her neighbor Frank) & his honor Ptomaine Thomas. Glasses raised to Byron for musical horizon expansion & much obliged to J & Thurston for keepin' my concert fires burnin' since my continental shift. Thanks to the Mods for keepin' DIME alive. Enjoy, share, give, spread peace. Yers truly, Kneesfudd
