British folk singer Iain Matthews' career in music goes back over 40 years. In 1968-69 he was the lead vocalist for the legendary Fairport Convention, singing on their first two albums. During the 1970's, he released numerous solo albums, as well as leading the acclaimed folk-rock groups Plainsong and Matthews Southern Comfort. The latter group had a number one hit single in England with their version of Joni Mitchell's "Woodstock." That song and his 1979 solo song "Shake It" were both top 40 hits in the U.S. as well. To date, Matthews has released over 50 albums (!) either as a solo artist or as a band member. Rolling Stone magazine said, "the man can attempt just about anything in the folk-rock style and carry it off with grace and polish.”

Matthews now resides in The Netherlands and this is a rare U.S. performance.

Highly recommended for fans of Neil Young, Jackson Browne, Crosby Stills & Nash, Nanci Griffith, folk-rock, singer-songwriters...

“Iain has one of the best and most distinctive voices in popular music, and also one of the most recognizable musical styles. He has written some fabulous songs, and turned himself into a bloody good guitar player.” -Richard Thompson
