I did not record the first hour. I had my video camera in my pocket and planned on shooting a song or two depending on the situation, but considering no one stood up during the show and security was sitting in a chair one row in front of me, staring at me and the rest of the audience, I never did shoot any videos. About halfway through the show I realized it would be a good idea to let the video camera run in my lap and pick up the audio. Tom and the band were really on this night, especially turned on by the time they played Torn Curtain. Jimmy Rip is an excellent replacement for Richard Lloyd, knows the parts perfectly, and really rips it up (pun intended). This version of Persia is 21 minutes long, Marquee Moon is 15 minutes. Someone asked me after the show if they were this "jammy" in the '70's. Verlaine really had my jaw on the floor after this show, which I sort of expected, but really didn't realize until it happened. Damn.
