After John Lydon left the band on January 17, 1978, the Sex Pistols didn't officially split up, but continued to release material, starting with the "No One Is Innocent/My Way" single on June 30, 1978. The single (with train robber Ronald Biggs on vocals on the A side) reached number seven on the charts, eventually outselling all the singles with which Rotten was involved. McLaren was seeking to reconstitute the band with a permanent new frontman, but Vicious—McLaren's first choice—had sickened of him. In return for agreeing to record "My Way", Vicious had demanded that McLaren sign a sheet of paper declaring that he was no longer Vicious's manager.
In August, Vicious, back in London, delivered his final performances as a nominal Sex Pistol: recording and filming cover versions of two Eddie Cochran songs: "Something Else" and "C'Mon Everybody". The bassist's return to New York in September put an end to McLaren's reunion dream, but the singles "Something Else" (the biggest-selling single ever under the Sex Pistols name) and "C'Mon Everybody" were released as the second and third 1979 Sex Pistols singles.
Among the other singles released in 1979 under the Sex Pistols name was the new song "Silly Thing" (sung by Steve Jones). On 21 November 1980, the final "new" studio recordings attributed to the Sex Pistols were released by Virgin: "Black Leather" and "Here We Go Again", recorded by Jones and Cook during the mid-1978 Swindle sessions, were paired as one of a half-dozen 7-inch records (the other five reconfiguring previously released material) sold together as Sex Pack. "Black Leather" and "Here We Go Again" were also featured on the Japanese release "The Very Best Of Sex Pistols" in 1980. These were the last recordings to be released under the Sex Pistols name.
This torrent features "Black Leather", "Here We Go Again" and "Silly Thing" from the Sex Pack single pack. The rest of the tracks from the Sex Pack are readily available elsewhere.
Lineage: 7" vinyl singles digitized via USB turntable using Adobe Audition at 24/44 (the limit of the turntable USB interface), Automatic Click Remover filter applied, saved as AIFF files, converted to Apple Lossless Format using iTunes.
** Two other versions of "Here We Go Again" also exist, featured on the Dave Goodman releases "We Have Cum For Your Children" and "The Swindle Continues", respectively. "The Swindle Continues" also features a different version of "Silly Thing", bringing the number of available versions of this track up to three, since the version on "The Great Rock'n'Roll Swindle" is a different version than on the single, and has Paul Cook on vocals. No other Sex Pistols version of "Black Leather" has surfaced.

Silly Thing - Paul Cook album version ("The Great Rock'N'Roll Swindle"):
The original version of the song, on which Paul Cook sings lead vocals and Steve Jones plays bass guitar, was recorded with engineer Steve Lipson at Regents Park Studios in London in April or May 1978. The recording of further guitar overdubs and the final mixing took place at Rockfield Studios in Wales with producer Dave Goodman in late May 1978.
This original version of “Silly Thing” appeared on the movie soundtrack album of “The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle” and was used for the single in New Zealand, France and Japan.
A different mix of this original version, with Cook singing the verses and Jones singing the chorus, was released in 1988 in Japan, along with an outtake from the same recording sessions, the original version of the Jones/Cook composition “Here We Go Again”.
Silly Thing - Steve Jones single version:
In the second week of March 1979, Jones and Cook went into Wessex Studios in London with engineer Bill Price and recorded a new version of the song. On this version, bass guitar was played by Andy Allen of the Lightning Raiders, who later in the year formed The Professionals with Cook and Jones.
This version of “Silly Thing” was used for the single in the UK, Australia, West Germany and Portugal. It appeared on the 1992 Sex Pistols compilation Kiss This.
