The tapes were of demos recorded at a variety of sessions in Boston & Los Angeles in 1972 and 1973, together with live recordings from the same 1971 or 1972 Harvard University shows that were used for the filler tracks on the three Longbranch Saloon derived official releases:
Live At The Longbranch Saloon
Precise Modern Lovers Order &
Live At The Longbranch And More.
'71-'73 Demos - Boston, MA & Los Angeles, CA, USA:
1. Girlfriend (unknown, but presumably the John Cale produced April '72 demo)
2. Modern World (unknown, but most likely from the Kim Fowley '73 sessions)
3. Ride On Down The Highway (unknown, but presumably from the '71 Intermedia session)
4. A Plea For Tenderness (Kim Fowley,'73, but not the version on SoR)
5. Hospital (unknown, but shorter and quite different to the version on ML)
Live - Harvard University 1971, Cambridge, MA, USA
The demos are all excellent or very good quality (with some tape hiss), while the live songs range from average quality to sonicly distressed (particularly from Cambridge Clown onwards).
